Have I told you that Mr. Snuggles and I are living our dream?
A year ago, we have dreamed of working remotely to make way for traveling. our hobbies and other more important things like family. And now, we’re really living it.
We used to do normal office hours and every time Monday comes, I can already feel the dark clouds looming overhead. I felt sad and gloomy. hehe
I remember Mr. Snuggles telling me on our flight back to Manila from Coron that what makes us a bit different from people who are working is that whenever we go home from a trip or when the weekend’s over, we don’t say “oh, back to reality” anymore. We go home with a light heart knowing we live a life that we see as one big vacation. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against normal office hours. It’s just that it’s not our thing anymore and we’re glad we made that leap of faith.
Although there really are days when I would feel like we’ve worked so much and we get too busy that we forget the really important things in life.
Anyway, we took advantage of our Coron trip to center ourselves once again. We didn’t really plan on an activity-filled trip because we felt like it would be a great opportunity to try to literally do nothing than meditate (and eat, of course!). The owner of the resort, Gigi, was so accommodating and hospitable. When we told her that we simply wanted to relax and unwind, she egged us to try their sister resort, Coron Castaway, for a night. I totally recommend her other resort, Gran Vista, as well.
The resort was situated in another island and we had to ride a bangka to get there.

This part of the island is filled with mangroves, sea grass and jellyfishes so we didn’t get to swim.

But we did get to spend a LOT of time on the dock where we stayed quiet. We got to listen to the wind while we centered ourselves once again.

Of course we took a couple of photos of us lounging on the dock.

We stayed in a big nipa hut. Nipa hut is our local cottage made with bamboo and anahaw leaves.

And because sea grass is abundant, crabs are also equally abundant! So yay for us because we had an all-you-can-eat crab fest during our stay.

The caretaker, Enok, caught those himself. He also served one big grilled fish. I forgot the name of the fish because all I remember was that it was too big for two people.
And since the beach was filled with jellyfishes, we asked Enok to make some Jellyfish Kinilaw for us the next day. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to taste it because we were leaving before lunch and he was busy depositing fresh water which he got from a nearby spring in the island. So there.

Poor jelly, we didn’t get to eat him. LOL.
That afternoon, when we got back to town, we hired a tricycle to take us to the foot of Mt. Tapyas. We climbed 747 steps to reach the top of the mountain where a gigantic cross stood. From there we could see the whole of Coron. Unlucky for us, heavy rain poured and we could not bring our camera so we just savored the moment up there. This photo was taken while we were on a boat during our island tour. I know we don’t have proof that we made the 747-step climb, but we really did.
It was just so very tiring!

This is what we were supposed to take a photo of while we were at Mt. Tapyas — the Sleeping Giant. The people in Coron believe that he’s the island’s guardian.

After climbing Mt. Tapyas, we headed to Maquinit hot spring where all our muscle aches due to the climb were washed away. It’s a salt water hot spring. Weird, huh?
The following day, we took the Coron Island Loop tour with some new-found friends from the resort (which we forgot to take photos of! teehee)

You can call us bad travelers for not taking enough photos during the tour but we really opted to soak in the beauty of the place with our own eyes. We’re leaving the photos to real photographers who take the time to really capture the beauty of the island. As for us, we’re happy to see them in our own built-in lenses.
Anyway, we fed some pretty fishes with crackers in Siete Pecados, swam in Kayangan Lake and Twin Lagoon, saw the creepy shipwreck where we fed more fishes in the deep and dark blue part of the sea (I was so scared knowing there were loads of dead Japanese troops beneath me that I could not stay in the water for more than ten minutes!) and swam again in Banul beach. We did all these while eating fresh crabs sauteed in garlic, grilled pork and fish, salad and tons of chips on the boat! We didn’t know where to focus anymore — food, the sea or the sight! We were also really lucky to have a great sunny weather during our trip. Everything was just perfect.
Just like this pretty little beach we went to:

What a beauty, right?

We had a relaxing and rejuvenating experience in Coron.
Next time I want my Papa and my brother to be with us. We’ll visit Malcapuya beach next time.

Btw, I didn’t get to make anything this week but I’ll try to make a cute printable for you guys before the week ends.
Hope you are all having a lovely time wherever you may be!
